ChanghongIT won the Second Prize in the National Science and Technology Progress Awards
The other day, the National Science and Technology Award Ceremony 2014 was held in the Great Hall of the People in Beijing. 318 achievements, eight experts of science and technology, and one foreign organization were honored with prizes. Chinese Party and state leaders including Xi Jinping, Li Keqiang, Liu Yunshan, and Zhang Gaoli attended the conference and presented the awards to the winners. ChanghongIT won its Second Prize in the National Science and Technology Progress Award for its key technique of combining satellite communication and terrestrial networks in high-precision location-based services over a wide area. This award follows its earlier recognition, also this eyar, through the Science and Technology in Satellite Navigation Award 2014, another important national award, which underscores ChanghongIT’s leading position in location-based services in China.
The National Science and Technology Progress Award is considered a significant national award instituted by the State Council to honor citizens and organizations that make outstanding contributions to our country’s science and technology. This award is an important one among a total of five national science and technology awards under the Regulations regarding National Science and technology Awards promulgated by the State Council. The winner of such award, whether a person or an organization, should have created outstanding economic and social benefits in the areas of scientific innovation, the application of science, the commercialization of technology , or the industrialization of advanced technology.
One of the international puzzles in location-based service is seamless and precise indoor and outdoor 3D geopositioning over wide areas. To resolve this problem, ChanghongIT developed the key technique of combining satellite communication and terrestrial networks in high-precision location-based services over a wide area as its core technology. It can improve the accuracy of geopositioning to "3 meters in horizontal and 1 meter in vertical" and even better. At present, this technique has become an important component of the Xihe system in the Ministry of Science and Technology. In many national plans and the middle and long-term development plan of the satellite navigation industry, it is also being regarded as a significant achievement in science and technology. Successfully applied in the areas of smart senior services and mobile internet, this technology is producing grand social and economic benefits.
According to experts in related industries, this technique has laid a good foundation for location-based services in China, provided new ideas for the development of telecommunication, and has provided new technological methods for the construction of a national location network in China. A foreign expert said, "This is a positioning technology with higher accuracy, which opens up possibilities for greater coverage for location-based services."
According to a director at ChanghongIT, the fact that their technique received two national awards fully demonstrates the leading strength of ChanghongIT in location-based services in China in 2014. It is also a high-level endorsement from a national department. Moreover, ChanghongIT may well become the first domestic vendor to realize commercial mass-production of the Beidou navigation system pre-installed in new cars. The company has entered into a strategic partnership with JAC Motors. All of these items are strong evidence of the applicability and reliability of their products.
